Not wanting to spoil the fun, but have you looked into the red/blue conversion from a registration legality point of view?
Although in Vic., only 2 years ago I fronted up to Vicroads to re-register an EH with a red 202 with VK injection on a black head & was knocked back.
I had previously had the car registered in my name with the original 179 when I first bought the car.
As the replacement motor, a red 202, was more than 10% greater in capacity than the original 179, I was required to furnish a VASS certificate, (engineers' report), before registration would be granted.
Luckily, I had most of the requirements such as inertia reel front belts, dual circuit braking system, heater/demister etc. fitted.
But, once I had completed the extra couple of items to comply, the assessment & paperwork for the VASS certificate set me back a touch shy of $900.
Moral of the story is to do plenty of homework, good homework.
