I just want to check that original HQ SS stripes are painted semi gloss. With decal sections on the nose cone radius sections, and decal sections on the back end of the rear quarter panels adjacent to the bootlid.

Can anyone confirm this is the original paint/ decal scheme?

Hi Peter,

your information is spot on.
There aren't too many SSs around with original paint or stripes to learn from, but the few I have seen have the combination you mention. I can supply the vinyl decal sections and correct measurements for the stripes.

Regards, Andy.

I am in the process of finishing off a resto on an SS. The owner said his dad resprayed the ends by spray can, as the decals decayed.

He got a decal kit complete, and from the info he told me, and the drawings in the decal kit, it appeared the correct way is to only do decals on the radius ends.

It would be best to make the car more original by doing the correct stripe/ decalcombination.

We have spent a lot of time ensuring the Infra Red colour was matched correctly, and the firewall and boot colours were formulated and matched.

He now has matched spray our cards and formulation for the colour and grey/black firewall colour.

This car had 90% original paint on it before resto started. I took many pics before stripping paint.
