Hi all,
I removed the window from my drivers door to do some repairs on the door. Now I have replaced it, the window winds down with no problems, but when it goes up, the front of the window drops too much. As the glass is going up, the front of the glass is about an inch lower than the back, then the whole lot jams on the guide.

I have tried to adjust what adjustments there are, but have made no improvement. Is there a process that should be followed to align the glass in the regulator? Or do you think there is something wrong with the regulator.

Thanks for any help. Cheers, Alan.

I would appreciate anyones opinion on the window problem. I'm trying to work out if it is simply an installation issue, or if there could be worn parts in my regulator.

I have tried to follow HQ service manual Vol 1, but it dosent really cover adjustment.

Thanks.

The problem could have one of 3 causes.

Adjustment, this one's easy, but often there is not enough adjustment to be had.

Damaged, the regulator could be bent or damaged, not much you can do other than just replace it.

Jammed bailey channel, this one is the most likely. Remove the regulator & check to see if the glass will slide freely in its channels before re-connecting the regulator.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

Are/do you still have problems with the window, If so check that the glass is centered in the rubber and not running between the rubber and the track. Whilst the glass is out it can be beneficial to glue the rubber in. (contact cement like "Bear glue") a thin smear on each surface let it touch dry and then assemble. Check that your regulator works and its end bushes are ok as Terry said above, lubricate it and reassemble your door. The short runner track with a bolt at each end is the main adjustment leave its bolts a little loose and get someone to keep the glass level as you wind it up you will soon see where it needs to sit,(one end for lifting the front of the glass)

Just to close the thread off - I replaced the regulator with a $38 after market regulator and it works great. Good as new. Cheers.
