Hey all, I have an old school smiths tacho (RVI5000/00B) I want to fit to my FC but any items I can find on wiring on the net for the tach I have mentions two white wires to connect it in series with the coil but my tach also has two red wires - any ideas ???

The tach has to have battery, so that would be one of the red wires I guess. The other would probably be for the light.

Sounds right. If that doesn't work i'll dig through my spares to see if i can find the Smith's impulse i used to run. I might have a diagram tucked away with it. |

Thanks for the info, wired up as suggested but I yhink tach might be cactus. Intially she was reading about 4 grand at idle and off the clock with a couple of revs, i found a dash pot to adjust but when winding it back reads almost nothing at idle and needle bounces erratically with revs...... Tell me the bad newa, should I chuck it ??
