Hello all.Hope someone can help me out.I had a HG Kingswood many years ago and one of the previous owners had a kill switch on it.It was an odd one and not seen one before or since like it.I dont know how it was done and hope someone here can help.The car would not start at all unless you turned the lights on and the put high beams on and off the lights off and then she would fire up no worries at all.If you did not go through this ritual then the car would not start.I have now got an EJ and would like to do the same to it once finished.Can anyone help me out at all.Craig

It would not be that hard to do, just difficult to explain to someone without much electrical knowledge.
Take the sequence to an auto electrician, and with a few relays would easily make and install for you.
Alternatively could easiliy be made with an electronic circuit using logic gates and a relay.

My brother put a kill switch on his LC Torana years ago. I think all he did was put a switch along the wire from coil to the distributor. He mounted the switch in an inconspicuous, but easy to reach, place under the dash. This stopped the current reaching the points. The car could still be turned over, but there was no spark.

I did that as well in my wb ute. I still have the kill switch, the thieves still have my WB. They threw the kill switch in the gutter where I left my ute. Car thieves are losers.

End of the day, if they want your car, they are going to take it. All you can do is buy time and make it harder for them to take it. This helps stop the opportunistic thief. But if they want YOUR car for a specific reason they are going to get it no matter what you do to protect it.

Thats a defeatist attitude. They could be stopped if our law enforcement and judicial system manned up to the task.

Correct, but they are more interested in booking people for 5k's over the limit. or more like they are told to chase those offenders because that brings in the coin.

Locks only stop honest people. I have seen some complex system to stop these people from stealing a car and they have simply towed it away.
Even bollards in driveways to stop the car from being removed have not worked.
As edelbrock said, stop the ones that know how to steal them if nothing done to stop them, and buy time. They have tried my son's old VN 3 times in the last 6 months, never succeeded once. Just kids looking for a ride.
have something different and they will not get it unless they really really want it.

Do you think it would be legal to fit a flame thrower into the steering wheel that is triggered by tampering???
