Do you reckon it is cheaper to have a component (in this case door handles for an HZ) re-chromed or just buy a new one from rare spares?

There is no 'one line' answer to that question.

It depends on many things. Firstly the cost of the Rare Spare new item versus the re-chroming job (obviously) & secondly how bad is the old handle. If it's too badly pitted many chrome platers won't attempt to re-chrome it or if they do take it on they won't warranty it.

At least with the Rares item you will have a warranty or if there is a problem you can contact them here on this forum.

Often it is worth refurbishing old parts & sometimes it's not.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0
