hi a few questions, for things i have seen commented on in forums but am still confused by it or want to confirm info is correct ,
what is the difference in hk inner guards from early to late
the wrinkles creases only ? is there a difference in the bonnet catch panel early and late
1 has a more rolled lip to it ? what is the difference between hk - hg monaro guards ,
the drain hole at the bottom , anything else ? i thought the early ridged pillars were only june - aug 68
i have another body here that is late sept build that has ridged pillars on it ,

early HK RH (only)inner skirt has no indent for brake booster from jan '68 to march.& no step at front near h/light rad support, with ugly creases at front half of skirt.

then march '68 had th indent (for 'inline booster clearance',(although not introduced yet), but still ugly creases at front half of inner skirt. & no step. (this went thru till approx aug-sept)when th step down pressing was introduced to enable a better crumble zone (not LHD bat tray as some will tell you)
[as it was too small anyway}

then sept onwards had th step @ front half of inner skirt) (also when compliance plate was moved from centre of firewall(near firewall no.) to top of plenumn chamber..

bonnet catch panel from jan '68 till around august was a "HR carry over 'straight up lip' which then changed to roll over type after that.

early 'pre monaro' HK guards (jan - late feb & early march) were different inner wheel well (another HR carryover)& also concave w/arch section was 18.5mm, then reduced to 15mm in march production onwards.& obviously th drain hole bottom (HR carry over as well)

th drainhole then went into early HT, when they opened up to a "u shaped cutout" which proceeded till th end of HG..

th groove in pillars was yet another HR carry over from jan '68 till approx july, early aug.. whereas some had only th groove on on side & not th other!! (how th f*#k they got away wit that i'll never understand!!)

also note that early HK also had th 'dimmple in middle of sill underneath for jacking point (yet another HR carry over) up till approx late aug-early sept..

& also 'flat inner rear door corners, instead of swollen!! (i actually saw a geniune august HK warrwick yellow monaro with RH swollen inner rear corner & flat LH inner rear corner)

i have a pair of original monaro doors with 'one of each' to prove this theory!!

regards DD

hey davo , thanks heaps for that , it was exactly the facts i wanted to know , this old beaten up 327 car i have , has hg bonnet and 350 stickers on the guards , so wanted some facts to go see if all the front is original , the stickers and bonnet change is a common 80,s thing i guess , so wanted to check out the frames ect ect to confirm ,
'flat inner rear door corners, instead of swollen!! ?? you mean inner rear door at back near hinges rear ? or rear rear near locks ?
ps , i will be calling u soon about the other bits , just been crazy busy work for EOFY , and a warehouse , not enjoying moving 4500m2 of stock and racking , ; (
thanks again
brett
