I know very little about diffs but I do know mine isnt suposed to be banging and clanging the way it is right now.
I'm taking it in for repairs some time next week and while Im at it I want the 2.78 tossed out and a 3.08 installed.

Currently a stock standard 74 HQ Monaro, auto with 10 bolt LSD with 2.78 ratio.

Just googling about and I'm seeing names like Quaife and Kaaz and Harrop/Eaton Tru-Trac, Borg Warner etc. I just want a standard setup LSD with 3.08, can I buy NEW a full set of gears and bearings and everything else that I need or is it cheaper and easier to just gut it out and start a new with a Tru-Trac or something?

. . . keeping in mind I'm not smoking the old girl up or driving like a teenager anymore.

Thanks

Mate, I would just buy a new one from somewhere as in the whole diff.

I have a 3:08 LSD in my ute and a spare 3:08 in the shed.

If your lucky you can pick them up cheap.

Email me for more details if you're interested.

Still learning something new every day.
The 2.78 has a different hemisphere to the 3.08 and 3.36 and up.
This car is my trailer pulling, dirt road driving, shopping trolley denting car anyway but I'm over the 2.78 and its lack of punch.
Theres a couple of 3.08's on ebay so shouldnt be too hard to find.
Thanks guys
