I want to remove the heater control knob from the dash above the consol is there a trick to getting it out? I think the knob that controls the air flow direction also comes out with it.
thanks.

The heater control is part of an assembly with the fan speed switch, and the vacuum operated airflow direction control. It all comes out as a single unit.
Remove the cover plate around the gear lever, and lower the front of the console via the 2 big phillips head screw.
Undo the 3 phillips head screws along the bottom edge of the trim panel around the radio & heater controls - pop this out. Unplug the immobiliser LED and any of the switches as you withdraw it.
Undo the single phillips head screw on the side of the heater controls.
Head for the area above the driver's footrest, where you'll see a metal control rod running near the heater core's pipes. It goes into a white plastic fitting. Pop the top on that fitting (carefully) - it sort of unfolds, toopen up a V-shaped gap that the rod nestles down into. Mark the rod with a texta so you get it back in the same spot, then pop it out of the fitting.
Now you can work the control assembly out, unplugging the electrical connector on the fan switch first, and then remove the vacuum switch - try not to disturb the pipes individually unless you label where each one comes from, or the job becomes infinitely harder. |
Cheers,
