Thanks: 2 times
How is a five-digit number plate supposed to be affixed on the rear bumper of a WB Statesman? Did they use something like the HQ-HZ sedan backing plate (which swivelled down to access the fuel tank nozzle)or something else?

I had a look in the WB parts manual but conveniently it doesn't show the middle bumper section. The parts listing refers to all sorts of securing nuts and bolts but no description like 'backing plate'.

Reason I ask is I have re-regoed my WB and got its plates out of storage. Previously a home-made dodgy number plate frame held the plate (and only just) but I want something better preferably what it was supposed to have when new. The five-digit plate is not wide enough to secure though the elongated holes in the bumper, presumably for longer plates.

I'll probably just make up a bracket but if a quick visit to the wreckers or eBay will get it sorted out with the proper part, even better.

Thanks,

Phil.
