So I'm thinking of putting an Aussie 4 speed into my manual tunnel EH. I know I need to cut and modify my cross member and tunnel above the cross member. Then I need to cut a hole in the tunnel for the shifter and re strengthen. Are more tunnel mods needed? Also would my existing tail shaft fit straight onto the aussie box or will it need to be shortened? Thanks for any help you may be able to offer. Eh is currently 3 on the tree manual.

An original EH auto tailshaft may fit. Seeing as a Trimatic will fit straight into an original EH auto body.
Have you thought of a Toyota 4 speed, as there is no tunnel modification required in an EH manual body?
Then there is the Celica 5 speed with 4 speed front case, and that can also fit into a manual pan body.
PM for more info. |

Peter, don't all of these gearbox conversions have the same problem with main floor beam fouling the shifter & therefore need major surgery to overcome ? I've fitted Aussie 4-speeds & many other gearboxes to EH manual bodies & the floor needs the usual panel beating to clear the box (more in some cases than others), but it was always the shifter which cause the most grief. If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |
