G'day all, i was just wondering whats the best fuel and why, to be running my 355 stroker on. Its Carby running 9.5:1 comp.

Best will be 98, but you should be able to get away with 95. It'd probably even run OK on E10, but not normal 91 ULP. Original HSV 5.7L/350ci engines were 8.5:1 or thereabouts and were probably designed so they'd run on 91, but yours is substantially higher than that.

Being a carby & distributor set-up, you won't have the precision of an EFI system, so I'd stick with 98. I think you will get too much detonation etc. with anything lower.

I'd do what Dr Terry says. My HJ Prem is 9.7:1 and I use 98. If you are stuck you could use 95 (or even E10) but not as a regular thing.
