Can anyone tell me how the door mirror attaches on an HZ Kingswood. It's funny how the simplest things can stump you after doing so much work on this kingswood - anyway, I ordered a new attachment for the door mirror and it came with this white plastic bit for the screws to go into. Problem is, I can't work out if this piece is 'pushed in' from the outside and the screws expand it or if it goes on the back. The existing holes are too small for the former but there is a recess in the rubber that would suggest it sits in the recess.

The original fitment has the plastic bit pushed in from the outside into 2 holes (about 5-6 mm diam.) & then the screws make this expand to become tight.

Many dodgy repairers over the years, when fitting new doors, just drilled 2 small holes & used self-tappers directly into the door skin.

Excellent, thanks. I thought this may have been the case but didn't want to drill bigger holes until I was sure,
