Is there a colour code for the silver body/surround on a Ht grill? And should the centre grill badge have a "red" line border or another colour? Any advice appreciated.

All HT centre grille emblems had the red and blue in the insert. The red always faded completely. You'll never find an original used one with red still in it. The reproduction one on the market is very good. I've had mine out in the weather on my daily driver for years, since they came out, and it is still 100%.
The colour code for the grille silver is 577-04176 |

You must be pulling my leg. No, that is completely incorrect. |

I'm not a expert like you but the four grille badges in front of me 3 have no traces of red on them the one off the gts is the only one with faded red Edited by user Friday, 29 March 2013 7:43:43 PM(UTC)

Mr rust bucket, I'm afraid Simon is correct about the red in the HT grille badge. I remember when these were relatively young cars in the early 70s & many cars which lived outside (i.e. no garage) already had quite faded badges, especially the red colour which is always the first dye to fade.
In any case we don't have to rely on my 'faded' memory, check out the HT parts catalogue. You will only find 2 different grille insert part numbers. 2805408 suits all HTs except Premier & Brougham, while 2805409 suits Premier & Brougham. The latter 2 cars' grille badge it wider. So the same grille badge will be seen on Belmonts, Kingswoods & Monaros, including GTS versions.
BTW, both badges feature red, blue & chrome/silver.

HKTG, thanks for the silver colour code.
I've had a closer look at my grill emblem and what is now a silver line, with a blue outer line, The top edge of the silver line has a very faint tinge of pink, so it seems it was red that has faded to the silver background. Cheers all.
