only option really is to get a S/C motor with the auto.
I wanted one when they were new but the new car dealer went right off his tree, saying that no one would want such.
There are other S/C you can use with a manual.
L67 motor has lower comp 8.5:1

The heads are unique to the S/C V6 as well, so it's an entire top-end change for a "bolt on"

You're better off with a complete conversion as castellan pointed out.

I've done one of these - from a VS Caprice into a VS wagon, some 7-8 years back, so the memory isn't that clear anymore. We ended up using the entire driveline, as the S/C auto is different, and there's no lockup on the converter in them either.

There's so many little things - the belt run, coil pack bracket & other stuff you'll overlook that would be almost impossible to get without buying a complete donor.

And then there's the fuel system. The S/C motor runs a beefier pump in the tank, but has a PCM controlled module mounted in the boot that varies the current/voltage to the pump, effectively increasing output when needed (under boost) and running it lazy when cruising.

It's not that hard these days to convert the auto-only S/C VS into a manual - using all the VS manual hardware that you already have, but you'll need to find someone to re-map the memcal to turn off all the auto-trans related stuff, and reconfigure the speed sensor signal.
Cheers,

Mick

Sounds like it'd be simpler, easier and cheaper to stick an LS1 in it!
