I am doing up an HK front end and have what I thought was a detailed manual. After reading thru, it leaves many questions. Is there a more detailed assembly manual for HK frontend available? Screwing in the threaded pivot joints appears to have squashed the wishbone 10mm or so and they were not central with the crossmember on the old setup. I don't want to make this mistake again. I think they need support when assembling and be held central to the crossmember. HT appears to have special tools but not HK?
The crossmember has the number D32 stamped on top of the passenger shocky tower. The towers have extra top wishbone holes like XU1 drilled in them too? It has the usual date code numbers stamped on the extension. It has come off a HK ute with a tag which among the normal numbers has "INSERT E.D.P 14432" can some one enlighten me..

Have seen E.D.P. 14432 on a Sydney Belmont wagon.

I think you're right re the tool being used for the HT-G only, since the rubber bushes are pressed (read bashed!) into position.
Since the HK ones screw in, they didn't need the support on the wishbone.

I've only done one HK, reused my original metal bushes as they were fine. Can't remember any agro or squashing the wishbone.

What about a HR or earlier manual? They used the metal bushes, so perhaps the same assembly method applies?
Sorry I can't offer more- it was a long time ago.

Sorry I can't be of more help, it was a long time ago.

Thank you for the replies.
INSERT E.D.P 14432 is a bit of a mystery still.. I have some detailed HK frontend info now so its sorted. If the wishbone is bent in slightly the threaded pivot bush will go to its end of thread and the support pivot shaft will contact against the grease nipple (damaging its thread). Dimensions need checking.
Also different is the geometry set up for HK with differences like 0 -1 deg castor compared with HTG 1-2 deg. I remember dad keeping his HK only briefly when HT was released and trading for a better drive I guess, I know he thought HK gts 327 was very rough, but was happy with the HT gts 350m in which he would drop me off at school sometimes.....

Early HT has the same front geometry as HK from memory, they changed it shortly after release to make it drive better in a straight line. From memory they raised the upper control arm attachment holes compared to HK.
