Hi all, I have just fitted a variable wiper unit to my WB, the wipers work fine but when I flicked the switch for the variable wipers the fuse blew. Could this be because the dwell control unit (Black Box) is faulty?And would any body have one they may wish to part with as I don't think I have any more in my pile of spares, I only have some kits without the unit, Cheers MS

Hi MS,
From memory, the male/female plug on the white wire that you connect into on WB commercials is the opposite way around to HX-HZ. You can just swap the white wires around to get around this.

my white wire had a male/female plug and when disconnected allowed the control unit to just simply plug in( male to female) so as to connect into what I assumed was the second speed of the wipers. So are you saying to do this opposite way and change the male terminals to females and the females to males???

Correct, what you've done by just plugging it in is right, but the male/female terminals on either the dwell unit OR the dash harness for WB will have to be reversed (not both as otherwise you'll be back to square one). Before changing it, you could test my theory by putting a jumper wire between both male terminals and another between both female terminals and it should all work.

Cheers, I was going to try try the jumper cables today and see how it goes. Will let you know what happens. I actually had to extend the white wires to make them reach the standard harness plug
