Hello All,
I have just fitted a twin throttle body/ twinB2 convertors, gas research system to my 308.
Started ok then ran for about 20 minutes, then stopped.
I could start the motor but it would not keep running.
Each time I hit the key it started but just died immediately.
I am at my wits'end to know what to look for.
Any advice appreciated.

cheers Dave

Assuming you have no issues with the gas supply (ie converters didn't freeze up from lack of water flow, solenoids are all open etc) then it only leaves spark.

Have you checked for spark?

My first thought is that it could be a weak coil (the symptoms of this are that they often fail after running for a while and heating up, but come good after cooling down).

What dizzy/coil/plugs are you running?

If it's a HEI dizzy, it could be a failed module too.

LPG is notoriously tough on ignition systems, so you need a really good spark. I run the original GMH/Bosch HEI dizzy in my VL, got a set of NGK BP6FS, and dropped the plug gaps to 1.0mm (factory spec is 1.5mm for HEI) - it goes great now, but at 1.5mm it was always fouling the plugs & misfiring (which also puts more load on the ignition).
Cheers,

Mick

Possibly the positive feed to the coil still has the ballast in place ie low voltage, too low for the HEI to use. When cranking this is bypassed with 12v so the engine fires readily.

Thanks to all who provided advice.
Problem solved. New ignition module, started and runs sweetly.

Thanks again, Dave
