Hi all .. i spotted an upcoming model release poster of a 1973-74 HQ GTS 350 Coupe, showing and stating Amethyst Metallic with the white bonnet and boot panels and the 350 under the bonnet....all pretty impressive looking at that!!....

....did Amethyst Met. travel right through the HQ model years?...as i thought that particular colour was only on the 1971-72 models, which of course didn't have the paint out panels....

...also while i'm thinking about all this...what was the procedure for the service books when the vehicle had been first registered to GMH themselves?...or did they indeed have service books??

....thanks and cheers fellas

Hi , Amethyst shows as a 1972 colour , but on an Aug 1972 colour chart it does not appear any more. I have owned an ex GMH HX Caprice which was Buckskin/Buckskin/Buckskin , (body/interiour/roof) bit of a rare combo & also had anti-lock brake opition, it had full service books filled out i think it had the persons name , and dealer was stamped fishermans bend GMH. ..thanks justgm .. my 1971 HQ GTS 350 is exactly as this poster portrays, but my car was "sold" new to the styling department at GMH and ended up with the white paint-outs on the boot and bonnet,...in amongst a few other minor details for consideration of the up-coming four door versions (and coupes as well) from around 1973 onwards ....but strictly not a factory paint option at the time....

...the model in question is definitely based on a 1973-74 version as it doesn't have the stainless sill strips, but does possess the stripes and "Monaro" badges on the front mudguards...

....just a very interesting observation on a model that may have a fatal flaw regarding it's original finish details....
