Can anyone help with the correct oil filter for a 76 HX GTS?
I see that Rares sell decals DOF 1 with white writing for a blue filter, DOF 3 with yellow writing for a black filter, also PF10AC which is a black filter with a nut at the bottom, and 95710667 which is a white filter with Holden logos on (made in China!!).
Questions are, which is applicable to my car, also should the filter have the nut on the base or be plain??
Thanks for any help.

At one point the PF-10 was available with or without the nut.I recall seeing an ad in trade journal.Would have been late 1970s
My memory has the PF-10 being white, but can't remember the lettering colour.
As to what was fitted at the factory- can't help there, sorry. |
Attn camry drivers. The accelerator is the skinny pedal on the right. |

Hi guys. I might be able to help. I have an NOS PF-10 in the box. It is white, with the nut in the base, blue lettering, and red over white AC lettering and circle. Hope that helps. Geoff.

The style of the PF10 varied quite a lot over the years. It also depends if you're talking about the filter that was on the the car when it left the factory.
AFAIK in the HX era, the filter that was factory fitted was dark blue & this coloured filter was only fitted at the factory. The replacement filter supplied by Holden spare parts (GM P&A) was white with blue & red markings. I well remember a guy trying to claim warranty on an HZ with noisy lifters until it was pointed out to him that at 25,000 km he still had the factory fitted filter on the engine, even though he had stamped service books. Claim refused !!!
In the 60s & early 70s the replacement filters were black. The hexagon was fitted to the early filters, but was deleted sometime in the mid 70s.
I do not know if the factory filter on the earlier cars differed to the replacement item. Is here anyone on the forum who working in Holden dealer service dept. in the 60s to verify that ?

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |
