hi all,
on my hk the driver side reverse light is not working, passenger side is fine, the driver blinker works fine as well.
i have no power at the plug on the rear harness connector (before tail light harness).
would this point to the problem being in the indicator switch ?
thanks in advance

Yes. The left and right rear indicator lamps are connected together by a moveable contact in the indicator switch when the switch is in the middle position. If you disconnect the battery and check for continuity (ohms range) between the centre contact at the rear indicator lampholders you should see them connected to each other with the indicator switch in the middle, and disconnected from each other when the indicator stalk is up or down. For what it's worth checking the earths on the lampholders would be a good idea. Sometimes odd things happen when an earth is missing, with lamp filaments finding paths to earth through other filaments, particularly if the lamps are of different watt ratings. Good luck.

Save your time Jason, you won't need a multi-meter. As gm5735 has said, it will be the indicator switch.
If the blinker works, but the reverse light doesn't, but the opposite reverse light does, then it is the switch at fault 100%, no need to check anything further. If there was a wiring or socket issue, then the blinker wouldn't work.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

Agreed. Burnt, bent, broken or otherwise buggered contacts in the switch. Or its full of congealed thick shake from a misadventure at the plastic food factory drive through.
