Does anyone know if factory rally wheel brackets were ever fitted
to base model chassis?

These brackets were an all HK to HG with 7.35 tyres or 6 inch rims. (sedan and Monaro)

I'll be cheeky and say a HK Premier is a 4 door GTS.

Do they usually come with GTS guards and GTS dash from the factory?

Sports instruments were available on any car in the range.

GTS front guards were not 'officially' optional, at all.

A special built for an in-house executive or VIP customer would be an exception however.

Having said that, an HK/T/G GTS 4-door would be easily made at dealer level, buy simply ordering an appropriately optioned sedan & adding things like guards & paint-outs at the dealer's panel-shop.

One wonders whether this particular car began life as Kingswood with bits added or a Premier with bits removed. Its roofline will tell the story.

Cars turn up all the time that do not suit the norm, and even some turn up with factory "options" that were not allowed on that model. These however are very unusual and unique cars that have a defined history.

As Terry siad, a dealer could order in a specific vehicle with set options and then modify the car to suit.

A well known one of these is the Suttons UC Torana SLT. The base vehicle was an UC Torana SL with 3.3 litre engine, 4 speed, LSD with disc brake rear, sports intruments. Then Suttons added the wheels, flares and turbo.

This maybe just such a vehicle.

I have heard of a black HK Kingswood sedan with 5litre, 4spd, Salisbury diff, radius rods and rally rims. By default with the M21 box this should have had buckets and console. If they went this hard on the orders it'd most likely have had the U21 sports instruments too. As Dr terry says a dealer could easily have fitted the GTS's guards to it.

I only had 5 minutes to get the info from my mate Bob and more might come to light soon as he thinks about it ,
sometimes the cogs turn slowly.....it's been a long time since he saw it , this is what he remembered

HG 308 in Yellow Dolly, 4 speed ( gearbox type unknown) 10 bolt, GTS dash ALL FACTORY......I asked
about GTS panels? he cant remember.

It's a car worth knowing more about and perhaps in time I can post what I find out, I know the owner
( just a bit anyway) I sold him a grey heater box for a HK once....he's a longtime collector of Muscle Cars, I know
his brother very well and lives local so I'm bound to run into him again.

Notice how many sheep started to follow with tail-lights when V2 was released, bonnets when VZ CV8's were released etc. In 25 years time these will all be "factory special order" options.

I'd still say even special VIP cars or internal order cars would not have been "factory" with GTS guards unless Styling ordered them that way, even then the guards may have been done later. Most of that sort of stuff would have been done once the car was completed, more than likely in the service garage at Dandenong or Fisherman's Bend. For styling stuff normally Leo or his collegues would order a car with the biggest and best driveline and optioned to the hilt (air, steer, buckets etc) and modify it from there. I guess it wasn't a great drama to assembly line fit GTS guards though, however i'd be betting only Styling cars got done that way. Anything else would probably be done later.
