If I didn't lube the distributor cam lobes when installing new points, could they wear out of adjustment within a 1000 miles?

Yes from me too. And the break in wear is going to be more than
regular wear on the rubbing block.

Were the lobes bone dry, no lube at all on 'em?
Attn camry drivers. The accelerator is the skinny pedal on the right.

Lobes had a smear of oil on them, didn't have any grease handy.
Distributor Was rebuilt, no slack in shaft, max adjustment on adjusting screw and no gap after less than 1000 miles.

Delco points usually have heaps of adjustment. I'd suggest that the points are not fitted correctly, the cam lobe is unusually abrasive for some reason or the points are Chinese rubbish.
