G'day Fellas,

Background:-

253 just fitted into a HQ Prem, has B cast Brock heads,Quadrajet, 30/70 cam,'stractors, Chev HEI regraphed dizzy, goes well etc etc ( well, goes well for a 253 that is !! )...............

3 bits of info needed,

1. Can someone please ID the Quadrajet, number on passenger side is 17094595 1594 JHT.

2. Can someone ID the inlet manifold please GM 88-2 9947175.

3. Want to re-connect the auto choke to see if I can get it working again, engine is a dog to warm up without a choke, have bits and pieces of the heat riser pipes that go into the exhaust crossover in the manifold .........

Pretty sure the forward-most pipe screws to the auto choke boss on the carb but no idea where the rear-most pipe goes as I haven't got a parts manual/shop manual to show it and an internet search for pics resulted in a couple of hours of nothing........

I'm assuming the rear pipe might fit via a rubber hose to either a top port at rear of carb or somewhere on the air cleaner.

Can anyone explain the the heat riser pipe flow schematic for the auto choke and/or show me a pic of it on an original engine setup for this or a photo of the GM parts book/shop manual please?

I'm assuming that the Quadrajet is a Blue Motor one along with the inlet manifold ?............ guessing around WB or VB/VC/VH Commodore ??

Any help appreciated.

JHT is a VK Quadrajet afaik, I can't be any more specific though as I haven't recorded enough of them. Have a look in a HZ parts catalogue illustrations section and it'll show you how to connect up the choke. A Holden dealer may still have books, if not you can buy the whole catalogues on CD on Ebay. My WB book doesn't show it.

Basically the front pipe goes to the carb, the rear attaches to a rubber tube that goes to the back of the carby up high almost at the top of the carb. in the middle.
