pulled the disks and calipers/axles off the VL diff.
according to the tag on the housing it has a 3.45 ratio.
is this a special ratio? I wasn't aware this existed.
Anyone want it (in perth)

3.45:1 is the standard ratio for VL 6 cylinder (both turbo & non-turbo). It was also used in some later HSVs.
This gave better acceleration, and the fuel economy penalty was offset by the overdrive trans (4 speed auto with lockup & 5 speed manual)

The VL V8 was the first V8 to use the Borg Warner diff, but it continued with the 3.08:1 ratio - due to Holden VL V8s only having a trimatic trans behind them (except for HDT & HSV VL V8 vehicles that got the T5 as either standard, or optional).
Cheers,

Mick

I pulled a BW75 out of a 1989 XF ute last week. It was a 2.92:1 LSD and was a T5 5spd, and this was standard apparently. Must have only ticked along in 5th gear!
