Hi all
Is warrigal black a semi gloss on a 69 gts, external taillight blackouts in particular? I guess they should match the blackouts on the boot lid? So need to know if semi gloss or other is correct.
Cheers

This came up here a month or so ago. I assume you mean HK GTS? The answer was HK use 566 line Warrigal black. HT use 568 line. 568 is the same paint as the acrylic on the (non-metallic) cars. 566 is not as glossy.

Being a HT it'll be 568 which is the same paint line as the rest of a non-metallic car. So normal gloss Warrigal black. Ben read this off to me from I think the HT paint specs Engineering docs. If you want i'll ask next time we talk where the info came from.

Thanks that would be good as I'm just trying to find out the level of gloss for the exterior blackouts. I have details for the interior black glossiness for dash etc but unsure of external blackout glossiness.

Warrigal black 568-06459 is Dulon Type E acrylic laquer. As Byron noted it was introduced on HT. It is full gloss. It was probably not baked in the factory, like the body colour was, but was buffed to the same gloss level as the main body colour.

The info for HT black comes from the Engineering Dept car colour specifications documents. These documents are referred to at the bottom of the HT stripe instruction drawing 7431800 sheet D22. It says "for colours refer car colour spec."

I ALSO MISSED IT WAS VERDORO. The Persian Gold rally stripes are painted prior to clear over the whole lot on these. These are definitely a gloss finish. The Warrigal black on these was also done in the body plant so it will have been baked originally along with the gold stripes. Only the side and top stripes were not baked if they were black, but not applicable on a Verdoro car.
