Hi, I am having trouble identifying the purpose of a "yellow push button" style switch located on the under dash of my 81 WB. It is just to the left of the fuse compartment cover as you look at it. Owners manual has no mention of it!! Orange and Black striped power wire, indicating original harness. We have ruled out the following 1. Horn of any type. 2. Remote boot opener. 3. Remote fuel door opener. Any ideas/hints/tips greatly appreciated!! Cheers I have a picture but seems it doesn't want to enter the world wide web... |

If it is yellow in the middle, with a black surround, it's the type of switch GMH used an electric boot release button, which was fitted to WB, Commodores from VB-VL, and Camiras. Holden also sold these as an accessory - both dealer fitted, and as a kit that an owner could install. They generally have a black/orange stripe wire or plain orange wire as a power feed, and a black wire as the output to the boot solenoid.
If it's not the boot release style button, and it has lighter guage wiring, then it could be an old car alarm. The old early 80s type where you press the button & have xx seconds to leave, and to turn it off you have xx seconds from opening the door to turning the ignition on. |
Cheers,
