Hello. I'm after some info on my dad's hr prem body tag. The numbers are as below.
Body:HR235A-19901B. Which I believe is a automatic prem built in Brisbane.
Trim:1149-F42. F42 is honew fawn I believe.
Paint: 587-1703.
No insert or top numbers.

All you can really tell from that tag apart from paint and trim are:
Body was built in QLD, and it was an automatic HR Premier sedan. It almost certainly will also be assembled in QLD but you'd need to look at its PSN tag to know for certain.
Paint is metallic - 1149 is Savannah Bronze all over (no white roof). F42 trim is Honey Fawn (with buckets) like you say.

It has a black vinyl top... could this have been a dealer fitted item or unlikely?

Sorry also what is the 587 part of the paint code?
And the numbers before the F42 on trim line? Thanks

587 is metallic paint line. 1703 is the paint manufacturer's code for Savannah Bronze.
1149 is GMH's paint combination code for Savannah Bronze all over. It'd be 1204 if it had a Grecian White roof and in that case 585-9562 would appear on the TOP line.
Warren or Dr Terry will know more about the vinyl roof, but from memory I think only the Dandenong body plant noted the vinyl roof on the BODY tag. |

No Brisbane also included vinyl rood information, but this may not have happened until 1968. You cannot really fit a vinyl roof that easily, so would be factory. Check for signs of how molding hold on for vinyl roof cut off on 1/4 panels. Warren Edited by user Sunday, 8 May 2016 8:38:07 PM(UTC)

There were no HR sedans in 1968 though Warren? I can't say I've ever seen a HR tag from any body plant other than Dandenong with the Vinyl Roof notation on the tag, but I've never really paid huge attention to them either so as Warren says there may be some Acacia Ridge examples later in 1967 where they started the practice ready for HK? |

Off topic and not trying to hyjack your thread Prom....I remember back when a kid a new HR Prem having a esky/ice box behind the the rear seat armrest....
I have asked all over if this was a aftermarket acc or whatever...No one knows but I think I may have stumbled onto some posters in this forum who would know.
This car was sold in Griffith NSW in 1968 when I was in 6th grade...It was quite funny as half the town came to look at it when they brought it home...lol.

Byron, Acacia Ridge and Dandenong were the only plants to note vinyl roof on the tags. We know that Dandenong were doing HR, but not sure about HD. We Know Acacia Ridge were doing HK but not sure about HR.
As HD with vinyl roof are very rare wer may never know when Dandenong actually started doing it.
Brisbane Vinyl roof HRs would also be very thin on the ground so once again I do not think we shall ever know.
To compound matters there were lots of aftermarket vinyl roofs fitted in the 70s, so many HD and HRs would have had this done. The mold design is the giveaway on these cars.

Given that genuine HR c-pillar mouldings would've been easy to purchase during the 70s & unlike HK onwards, the moulding clips were retained by Philips-headed self-tappers from the factory, I would have difficulty picking a factory vinyl roof from a good aftermarket job. Dr Terry |
