Things have been a bit quiet on the forum of late, so I thought that I would spice it up a bit.

On the Saturday at the Monaro Nationals we ran a Holden trivia night. It was great fun with plenty of people scratching their heads.

Several of the questions were slightly controversial & there were a few that nobody could answer, out of a crowd of 90 plus Monaro enthusiasts.

I'll pose 4 questions to get things going.

1. What was the the first Holden to have black wiper arms ?

2. What was the first Holden to get a factory-fitted turbocharger ?

3. What was the first Holden with a (factory-fitted) Diesel engine ?

4. What was the first Holden to get factory-fitted alloy wheels as standard equipment ?

On the alloy wheel question, the LJ XU1 Sprintmasters were not actually fitted at the factory & are not on the broadcast sheet & the HX LE Polycasts wheels don't count as "alloys".

2. Piazza if you count it as a Holden?
3. Gemini.
4. N66 rim on LH-LX if you count Torana as a Holden. Otherwise HZ Sandman, GTS or any N67 optioned HZ.

We had to have simple rules & if it was badged Holden, HSV or HDT it was in.

BTW, there are several minor differences between an Isuzu Piazza & a Holden Piazza.

There are many 'Holdens' that were not built in a 'Holden" factory.

I missed the "standard equipment" for question 4. This is going to be a race between N67 on GTS and Sandman and UC Sunbird SL/E for those two, but when did the TD Gemini SL/E get the 13" version of the N67 rim?

Was it an earlier Gemini? Sandpiper had wheel covers.

N67 replaced N66 in the HZ order procedure on 18/9/78 which was for orders, but they started making stock vehicles from around that date with N67 rims.

Question 1 never really taken any notice. HQ SS or GTS sedan something like that that came out not long before ADR12 came out?

Question 3 I can't recall a Holden badge on anything with a diesel prior to Gemini unless you are talking about Jackeroo or Rodeo introduced around 1980.

My answers are:-

1. LH Torana Plus 4
2. Piazza
3. Rodeo
4. TD Gemini SL/E

Here's 4 more.

1. What was the first Holden to have Power Steering available ?
2. What was the first Holden to get Power Disc Brakes as standard equipment ?
3. What was the first Holden to get leather seats ?
4. What was the first Holden to get a metric speedo (not a export model) ?

Production EJ Prem?
Metric only or dual? HA Viva or a HB?

The Series 70 engine was only an option for all models, but the Brabham 'package' was virtually a separate 'model' so that's my answer.
