Not worried about the legality of it but just curious to know if a hk 307 and powerglide will fit a hr without any mods. Are the exhaust and steering box still functional?

As far as I know it'll bolt straight in, just radiator and tail shaft to sort. Not sure about steering box though. |

I have a Modern Motor mag from about 1966 showing a HR 'monaro style' 2 door body with a 283 Chev fitted for testing by GMH. The Chev engine should fit straight onto the engine mount bracket on the front suspension using the original mounts and spacer brackets from a HKTG Chev motor. Not sure what type of exhaust manifold was used but fitting could be a bit tight around the original steering box. Or go with extractors. Gearbox should fit the drivetrain tunnel. I don't think they used different drivetrain tunnels on HRs like they did in the EK's etc if fitted with auto or manual driveline. Don't know where that HR is now...... probably cut up by GMH? Not sure which box that magazine is in.... Ron

AFAIK that was only a concept drawing. I've never seen a photo or any other evidence of an in-house HR V8. Dr Terry Edited by user Tuesday, 13 December 2016 6:31:38 AM(UTC)
