Anyone who has replaced Air Conditioner idlers may have encountered a regular 15mm bolt on the tensioner and a Torx head bolt on the regular idler. Would anyone know if I can replaced the Torx head with a 'Normal' bolt? (If I can get it off...it's tight!)

Yes I had same problem, paid a fellow to change the idler. Ended up being the belt, new belt and no squeak. That was a few years ago and need another belt. Use genuine.

Is it a left hand thread if so it should have the letter L on the bolt head. I snapped the bolt on the VR timing belt adjuster because I did not realise it was left hand thread.

Mission Accomplished. Despite destroying the head of bolt, I asked my brother to weld on a bolt to the stripped Torx head (bear in mind I can't weld for sh*t). Without any fuss the bolt came out easily; possibly heated up from the weld. I have been informed by several sources (and including above) this was a left hand thread, however mine is a normal right hand. Either way, job done.
