Anyone have an informed opinion on what to use?

SBC, 3.75” stroke, internal balance forged crank, 5.7” rods, forged pistons, hydraulic roller, Edelbrock Performer air gap manifold. Cam is a custom setup to provide good vacuum and strong midrange. Won’t really rev over 6500 as it will have air and steer.

Will need to be balanced soon and I need to find a balancer and flexplate. Plenty of people seem to reckon an 8” balancer is the go for this application. What brand and type though? Scat do an 8” one, very cheap though which bothers me. Are Fluidamper worth the expense? I assume Fluidamper types don’t need traditional balancing?

Problem solved, I bought an ATI 7” super damper. The one I needed, ATI 917780 suit internally balanced SBC happened to be available in clearance stock from EMA in Albury, delivered free for less that I could buy it for from Summit or Jegs.
My engine builder said he has given up fitting up ATI balancers or flex plates when balancing as he has never had to touch one yet when doing an internally balanced engine.
