How can I remove iron filings from the side of my work rig? One of the previous drivers drove it with the front brakes pads worn down to the metal, covering the lower section of the car in small iron filings. What products can I use to remove? A welding magnet wrapped in paper towel or cloth might grab most of it.
They seem to accumulate every ferrous thing within a 1 metre radius when you don't want them to, so maybe they will do the same when you do want them to.

Put the magnet in a zip bag then move it over and around the area to pick up the iron filings. When finished hold the bag over the rubbish bin and carefully take the magnet out of the bag and the filings will fall off the bag. Use the same process to pick up iron from many places. i.e hack saw filings, angle grinder filings. Make sure you don't wear a hole in the plastic bag in the process otherwise you'll have your magnet covered in filings.
