The complete VT fuel pump unit is called an MRA (Modular Reservoir Assembly). There are 2 types - with regular & without.

The type with the reg is used for LS1s & the unit without reg is fitted to V6s & Holden V8s because these have the reg on the fuel rail on the engine.

The "kit" you are referring to is a kit which includes a steel ring which is welded to the top of your tank enabling the fitment of the standard Holden MRA to early steel fuel tanks.

Phone me on (02) 9644 2888 & I can fill you in on other issues with your conversion.

Have a look on the EFI hardware site:

https://www.efihardware....el-Tank-Conversion-Kits

You can see kits for different height MRA. The 180mm is VE, 215mm is BA and the 310mm is VT-VZ.

For a HZ commercial you are probably looking at the taller one. Which one you use will depend upon what EFI engine you are running as Dr Terry says. I have just had my HK tank modded with one of these kits, I used the late VX to VZ dead head MRA. I had to lower the top of the tank about 20mm around the weld in ring though as it was too tall for even the 310mm MRA but a cab-chassis tank should be OK to just weld it on top.

With the dead head setup I just bought a new VZ fuel filter (which comes with a bracket) and original lines for the tank area. If you are using a VT type it is simpler but you need a return line.

On a tonner though there is enough room directly under the tray above where the old tank was to fit a Commodore sedan tank. The filler can be a bit tricky though. The tank will sit up high right under the tray and it allows you to easier fit exhaust as well. Just use a tank with inbuilt high pressure pump. Bit more fabrication and it also means tank mods to get the filler right, versus using the original tank and putting an MRA in.

I didn't realise you had this stuff, I just bought the weld in ring kit from EFI Systems without the MRA, and got a high flow Walbro fitted MRA with 255L/hr pump as the standard one would be at its limit at about 450hp.

I dummied up a VN V8 tank on my HX cab-chassis up hard under the alloy tray. VN V8 tank is not integral MRA but one of the others is virtually the same size with an MRA, can’t recall which.
