Hi All.
A friend in NZ asked me to decipher the tag / paint / trim codes off an FJ Ute.
BODY: FJ 2106 - 23795
TRIM: No 16 - 533
PAINT: No 253 - 17447
The end of the Body Number could be an S but after enlarging it on my wife's phone it still looks like a 5?
I found a dulux chart on line with 7447 on it as Breton Blue? Is that the correct colour? Is there any way to know for sure what the interior paint colour should be?
TIA.

Hey Ron, you're right on thd exterior colour. Interior is horizon blue I believe. I think the last digit should be a 5 as you said. Pretty sure all utes were made at Elizabeth plant in that era

Woodville maybe, not Elizabeth. Pagewood opened around 1940 too so could be an S but like Sandaro not sure if Pagewood body plant was building utes at that time.

Thanks HK and Sandaro. I thought it would be a Woodville build too. I could only find a Dulux chart. I thought it would a bit easier to find colour charts.
I went to Crowie Paints in Kingaroy Qld last year to get some touch up paint for our Cruze and enquired about Sudan Beige for the HG Van and they had the mix codes? for it in 2 pack as well as original. Which would I prefer. Same goes for the Cinnamon Brown on the Ute.
If anyone wants the 'right paint' for their old Holden it would be worth giving them a call. I don't get to Kingaroy too often these days starting at 6am and finishing mostly after dark in the opposite direction. I am not a painter by the way......
Thanks.

Oops, yeah bit early for Elizabeth. Actually not sure of ute production, it might be early panelvan production that I was thinking was only Woodville, but don't quote me on that.

I just found some FJ body plates. A Pagewood car will have an S in front of the body number, like FJ2016 after STYLE No and on the next like after BODY No S2725. Sometimes the S will be separated from the body number and be right over next to BODY No, so it looks like BODY NoS 2725. A Woodville body just has a number. Plus Pagewood doesn't appear to use a - between FJ and 2016, so it looks like FJ2016 or FJ225, on all the tags I have anyway. Whereas Woodville use FJ-215, FJ-2016 etc.

Thanks again. Is the interior paint Horizon Blue or the interior trim Horizon Blue? Dash and doors and any other painted bits in Horizon Blue? Where would one find a colour chart of trim?
The tag pic sent to me is as I typed it on the first post so the FJ - 2106 - 23795 (numbers only for the Body) would make it a Woodville Build? The pic shows that the tags have never been off the ute. Original rivets are intact. The weight tag is pretty ordinary though....
I believe this Ute will have a 186 in front of the original box and column change as well as a HR Front End with discs and HR Rear soon.
Cheers,
Ron

Hi Ron, the horizon blue is the trim only, so probably only seat and door trims.

I'm pretty certain majority hard surfaces will be exterior body colour, like tops of doors and probably dash too

I just had a phone chat with my mate who knows the owner of this Ute. It came from Brisbane. It was taken to the States and was on sold to someone in NZ. Timaru I think? It has been on a real trip by the sound of it? The kick panels have been removed and light blue paint was found there. Some of the exterior has blue as well as a lemon colour from memory with a faded logo of a company name or other words about the product or company. Not sure. I may get some pics one day as no one can go anywhere in NZ. I think my mate said it has blue sunvisors but no seat upholstery or door trims. The seat base is there though.
I contacted the FX FJ Club of QLD and await a reply. The owner is looking for any history he can find about it as he would like to incorporate the company logo. It is being modified in a way that it can be unbolted back to original down the track.
Thanks Sandaro and HK.
Ron
