Noticed an early Sydney built HR X2 special being at auctioned at Burns& Co that is claimed to be a genuine X2 4 speed. Seems to have documentation. There is also claims on Facebook that Dr Terry has checked and confirmed that it’s genuine and was used as a test mule. Interesting, 1st I have seen if it is original. www.burnsandcoauctions.com.auEdited by user Thursday, 24 December 2020 11:55:47 AM(UTC)

Even if was was what it claims to be and if it left GMH with a 4spd it won’t be “factory”. It will have been done in Engineering not in the BAP and VAP. So in reality no different to being done aftermarket. |

I've never seen that engine number before & yes it is a very early HR.
As HK1837 has said it wouldn't be a production car, it would've been built-up in engineering.
I have identified 2 production HR X2 4-speeds, they were built in that small window between the intro of the 4-sp & the intro of the 186 S, which was only about a week.
Both of these cars had engine numbers very close to the 186K162700 changeover to 186S.

Looks like it might be a case of gilding the lily by bringing your name into it then. |
