Noticed an early Sydney built HR X2 special being at auctioned at Burns& Co that is claimed to be a genuine X2 4 speed.
Seems to have documentation.
There is also claims on Facebook that Dr Terry has checked and confirmed that it’s genuine and was used as a test mule.
Interesting, 1st I have seen if it is original.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

Even if was was what it claims to be and if it left GMH with a 4spd it won’t be “factory”. It will have been done in Engineering not in the BAP and VAP. So in reality no different to being done aftermarket.

I've never seen that engine number before & yes it is a very early HR.

As HK1837 has said it wouldn't be a production car, it would've been built-up in engineering.

I have identified 2 production HR X2 4-speeds, they were built in that small window between the intro of the 4-sp & the intro of the 186 S, which was only about a week.

Both of these cars had engine numbers very close to the 186K162700 changeover to 186S.

Looks like it might be a case of gilding the lily by bringing your name into it then.
