I have a few 5 litre cars, & seem to be regulary replacing the ignition module (mounted on left inner guard).
Looking for any advice: better or not so good brands Any particular cause why these to expire - old age & not regular use is mine do you think they will always be available Anyone seen modification that doesn't use module
Thank you for helpful replys

These things do give trouble with age & there are also a few weaknesses with the printed circuit board. Don't bother re-using old second hand units.
I sell exchange/reconditioned units. These are genuine Bosch modules with upgraded power transistors, with 12 months warranty.
There are aftermarket Chinese modules on the market, but these are like most other Chinese products, stay well away.
You do need the module, you could re-design the whole system, but why bother, you still need a power transistor to fire the ignition coil.
