Hey Guys,

When I got my HT 3 on the tree it had no 2nd/3rd gear linkage pre-tension spring fitted but it shifted perfectly but the box was VERY noisy so I have replaced the whole box but now am having trouble shifting into second.

It actually feels like the issue may be in the column but before I started looking at that and then the box itself I thought I'd ask if this pre-tension spring is critical?

I'm not sure what the spring actually does except possibly keeping the shifting arm/bracket a bit tighter against the frame but any info will be much appreciated.
