Afternoon All, I have a 307 chev engine 3914636 engine number is 30746*** K10 27. I would like information on which type of vehicle this may have been in and the cars assembly plant please? Is this a later number engine out of Dandenong? Those of you that know all the numbers and plant information where do you find it? I have looked and looked. Would be exciting if it could have been in a Monaro? Thanks in advance.

It could have been from a Monaro, but more than likely from any other Dandenong assembled automatic HK (or possibly even HT) except 81837 which includes Belmont, Kingswood, Premier GTS and Brougham (HK only) in any body style. By my memory it is later HK ie basically 1969 but without seeing its numbers can't be sure. |

See attached link FYI: https://www.fastlane.com...ook-com-and-similar.aspxI don't help anyone privately much anymore either after what some fool is putting HHS through, so any help is only in the public domain. |

If you want the info you'll need to put it here as that is the only way I'll help with that sort of thing. As stated above I don't do it privately any more. |

Thanks HK1837, should I just post photos of all the numbers I can find on the block? Is that ok to do? I see previous people are little cagey about this? What told you it was auto, did have an auto on it when I got some 20 years ago. Also, what is some fool putting HHS through? I have been dealing with Ben concerning another car of mine, great guy, big help.
Thanks again, have a good weekend to All!

Just give me the engine number, leave off the last digit of the GMH number if you like.
I know its auto as it was assembled and first run (on gas) on 27th October 1967. GMH didn't need any manual engines until GTS production started about the first week of July 1968 so they weren't made until somewhere starting around April 1968, and they were all over by mid July 1968 as that was when the North American engine plants retooled for 1969 model engine production which started early August 1968. So all HK-HT 307 engines were produced in that 8/67 through to 7/68 period. Your date code on the side of the block will be sometime prior to 27th October 1967 by one day up to a few months.
Ben will probably tell the story in good time. |

Pagewood assembled HK close to the end of HK. I’ll have a better look later and see if I have the date the same already recorded. I didn't have 0522 recorded so I can't tell you if it is a known auto or known manual date code. Edited by user Monday, 29 August 2022 4:14:32 PM(UTC)

Cheers I don't have enough Dandenong cars recorded to say for certain, but I believe this is from a later HK possibly the end of 1968 or early 1969 or thereabouts. Has to be from an auto car so best bet is a Brougham. |

Originally Posted by: bazza30555 Hi HK Am i right in thinking that only 307 engines made in the months of Aug to Dec are all 1967 production. Cheers Bazza. Yes, have to be. 1968 engines are one of a kind. They have the new large mains, filler neck at the front, alternator hanging off the LHS exhaust manifold, short water pump and PCV in the rocker covers with bare end heads. The engines changed dramatically for 1969 with accessory bolt heads, long water pumps, alternator over the RH rocker cover and oil filler in the rocker cover. So if a 1968 engine had an engine date code between August and December it was assembled in 1967. |

There is maybe 4500-4800 or so earlier than that, the rest to make up to 5156 will be 327's. I do have at least one 30740xxx number as a photo but have earlier ones recorded. Edited by user Sunday, 18 September 2022 7:10:52 AM(UTC)
