Hey guys,
So I have a leaky P7209 alloy PBR MC (no idea on age, 20+ yrs old, has "cast in australia" on the side) on a disc/drum sedan. Small flare nut for the front, large flare nut for the rears.
I see lots of new cheap MC's around and I see a lot of repair kits (no idea on quality of either)
I think the correct part number for a disc/drum master is P7210 but I guess it's neither here nor there with a check valve removed.
Three questions:
-Are all the currently available complete MC's much the same so it really doesn't matter where I buy one?
-Can someone recommend a repair kit, presuming I don't have a damaged bore.
-Is it worth sending the current master out for sleeving and repair, even for a rainy (or leaky) day and who should I send it to, I am in SE Melbourne but an express post bag is cheap.

Does yours have the large reservoir at the front and small at the rear? You cannot buy that type anymore, only the HZ style with the small reservoir at the front and large at the rear. It will still work, but for it to all fit together you need to get some of the brake pipes that go from the master cyl to the block on the chassis off a HZ so that your rear brakes go to the front reservoir and the fronts to the rear reservoir. Or get new pipes made to suit. They will bend but it looks like crap. However it also has a big slot to equalise the reservoirs so as long as the check valve is on the rear circuit it won't matter much I guess. Note that P7209 is a drum/drum originally but can probably be made into a disc/drum by removing one of the check valves as you say. |

I have the small reservoir at the front with a large slot between the reservoirs that looks pretty close to the kingswood country link, the front pipe goes to the front port/front brakes on the warning switch/prop valve. Edited by user Wednesday, 9 November 2022 7:33:57 PM(UTC)

You'll be right with the new P7210 then as your pipes have already been modified away from stock HJ. I'd try and rebuild the old one for use in the future as I doubt the Chinese stuff will last as long as an Aussie made one. |

Go to the brake specialists in your state. There is usually one or two places that do really good work. Ask around and the same name(s) will come up again and again. If they still sell them you could buy another one, which would give you a spare - worth thinking about as parts become rarer, or if you want to use yours they can rebuild it.
I wouldn't buy one from an auto parts store. These are cheap and nasty (damhik).

So I bought the master from kingswood country, it will do while I find someone to properly fix my broken one.
I will strip it and have a looksee at the bore, if its good, I'll find a rebuild kit.
