Looking to see if anyone has a very original late HK or HT with its original engine and hopefully carby.

What I'm trying to find out what identification is on the carbs. Early 1968 year model (9/67 to 8/68) 2GV had the coloured tags on them. From mid 1968 year model they are supposed to have lost the tag in-line with what happened with Quadrajets (where they changed from the older body with the round identification tag to get a rolled ID number on the body) and also got a rolled number under the fuel inlet.

So trying to see if those later 1968 carbs used on very late HK or on HT still had the tag or did they have a rolled number instead?

I used to own a Feb 69 Melb built Kingswood with a green tag on front right of carby. Engine no. 307454xxKO529. Might be a little bit early for what your after.

Was it auto or manual with/without A/C?

The engine build timeframe won’t help as the carbs weren’t put on them until engine dress in the GMH VAP.

It’s the most common 2GV carby. At the other end of the spectrum even the Camaro gurus don’t have a tag colour for 307/327 manual with A/C. The tags were gone by the time 307 was common in Camaro (late 1968) and 210hp 327 manual with A/C must have been very rare in 1968 model year. Ben Stewart’s HT GTS was a 307 manual with A/C but he bought the car when he was a kid and threw everything 307 in the bin. That is the only HK or HT that has ever come to light I think that was 307 manual with A/C.

If that is a GMH used Quadrajet it can only be one carby, 7045281. The 1/75 to 6/76 HJ, LH and LX 5.0L carby. Most common of all of them I think as auto and manual used the same carby. It's the wrong throttle linkage to be that carby though so must be a US 1969-70 linkage type throttle carb off something.

I bought one of those carbies from a speed shop in Dandenong back in the 90's. If I remember correctly it was sold as a new replacement carby for my HQ 308. Non original Gmh from the states. It worked well on my 308 auto.

They are pretty good. The same spec carby covered a large engine size and HP range. For example the identical carby was used for 327 240hp, 327 250hp, 327 275hp, 350 255hp, 350 295hp and 350 300hp. The carb numbers changed due to year model and application of emissions (started in California in 1967 - these are the 703 prefix carbs in 1967 and then across the board in the USA in 1968 then all carbs were 702 again), plus of course auto vs manual. So a 7027213 is the same spec as 7028213 except 7028213 has the same ADR27 changes that HQ Quadrajets got in 8-9/73 where carbs changed from 704128x to 704328x for 308 and 350 carbs went back to US carbs. This is why we got unique Aussie numbers on the 327 and 350 carbs from the start of Canadian 327 in HK through to 8/73 (GMH didn’t need emissions spec carbs until 8/73 but all US carbs went that way in 1968 (from 8/67).
