Hi all
Should my rear shackles be sitting upright ie 90deg to the chassis rail or close enough to it ?
I ask because with the tray off, mine sit at approx. 45 deg to rail / ground & with the tray on, i reckon they will be nearly parallel with the chassis rail
Whole rear end is doing my head in :), brand new Pedders 8014 shocks are about an inch too short fully extended, admittedly my tray is off at the moment but I cant see the weight of the tray making that much difference.
For info, measurement between top shock mount & the hole in the bottom spring pad ? is approx 540mm and fully extended length on shock is approx 515mm
Leaf spring is 1300 between eyes fitted to vehicle

That's where mine are, pretty well upright. The springs are old and saggy though, as are my spare set which also sit at about 90deg. Plus it has a big steel tray so there is a fair bit of weight on them. Here's the parts book image.  My springs are more curved than the parts book image. But the parts book image has three clamps on the spring. If your springs are unclamped you would expect the top couple of springs to be more curved. This would make the spring slightly shorter, especially with no load on them, and the shackle would be more forward. For info, the distance from front bolt to bottom of shackle on mine is about 1350mm. The shock is resting at 440mm bolt to bolt on mine but this is low because the springs are old. For testing, you could get 3 or 4 mates to stand on the chassis just to see what happens when a load is on! Good luck.

Thankyou Yes, they are certainly unclamped & yes they are more curved than the book shows, Actually when I bounce :) on the back, the shackle becomes more upright so its the opposite of what I though & I still cant see how !

 This is rt rear spring shackle on mine. Its got a deck on and probably 50kg sitting on that.
