OK, what 2 RWD cars sold in Australia had 'slant' engines, or engines that were leaned over to enable the bonnet line to be lowered.
Second question. What 2 FWD cars sold in Australia had straight 6-cylinder engines mounted transversely (east-west).
They may or may not be Holdens & were sold new here sometime between 1970 & today.

I remember seeing one that my mate's parents had, either a Saab or a Volvo? Maybe both? I just remembered another, my cousin had a TR7, I think it was a slant 4 as well? Edited by user Tuesday, 21 March 2023 4:54:30 PM(UTC)

Q1 Valiant R, S, AP5-6, VC and VE had the 225 Slant 6.
Q2 Austin Kimberley X6 had an east west 6 cylinder engine from memory, not sure if there were equivalent BMC models with a different badge but same drivetrain

There was a third transverse, inline, six cylinder front wheel drive car sold in Australia, the Volvo S80 2.9 from over 20 years ago. Edited by user Wednesday, 22 March 2023 12:44:11 AM(UTC)

Correct but also the VF & early VG Valiants. Originally Posted by: kevrev Q2 Austin Kimberley X6 had an east west 6 cylinder engine from memory, not sure if there were equivalent BMC models with a different badge but same drivetrain
The other BMC vehicle was the Austin Tasman X6. Dr Terry |

......... most if not all BMWs of the past 20 years not in a Vee config are slanted I have found in my experience my daughter had 2 of them ... the last being a 6 cylinder 3 series convertible, E328 I think? (she sold it to buy a KIA to ferry the bubs around in) and my missus has a 2014 MY15 1 series 125i 'M' E82 coupe with the standard NA 6cyl engine and previously a 2010 118 4 cyl version all lean to the drivers side (in RHD guise) with steering and brake lines dodging the exhaust manifolds/header system BMW hang off the engines on that side with lots of shields .. obviously a forced arrrangement from their original LHD design |

The Triumph Dolomite had a RWD slant 4 cyl that was based on one side of the V8 in the Triumph Stag. They were also used by Saab in the 99. Early Corollas (KE30) had a RWD slant motor that also had Hemi style spark plug holes in the valve cover. My old Boss worked at a Toyota dealership and said if the apprentice refilled the oil when the plug sleeves were out it would fill the cylinders with oil and cause a hydraulic lock up when they tried to start it. He would say, "Take the plugs out and look down the plug holes while I crank it and tell me if you see anything", each apprentice learnt their lesson and only did this once! In the end there were more slant motors than I originally thought. I knew about the Volvo, SAAB/Triumph, BMW & Toyota K motors but had forgotten most of them.

1990-1999 'Egg' Tarago 2.4 4 cylinder be regarded as a slant? It's engine is leaned 70-75 degrees, almost horizontal to fit under the floor
