The engine light is on in my sons VE V6 Ute. Apparently it’s the timing chain causing the code.
I am considering doing it myself, the price on the kits seems to vary a lot. Any advice on which kit to use?

Before rushing into changing the timing chains I would check that it isn't a faulty cam position sensor or a blocked cam actuator causing the engine light.

I guess you have to pull the timing case off to check that? It’s got around 200000km on it.

Not at all. The cam position sensors and actuators are visible and easily removed from the front of the engine.
Good time to replace their oil seals in the timing case if you are removing them for inspection.

I believe you are right and it's the timing chain wbute. Mate chased a code for quite a while through service departments and mechanics and most said it was the chain. He didn't believe it until about a month or so ago, he relented and got it changed. He say's the car goes a whole lot better now without any code being thrown.
