That is a great trivia question! Has everyone stumped.
I don't know, but on some other small blocks it is in the head above and between 1 and 3 sparkplug

It's not that much of a mystery. It is also not a switch which is on or off depending on temperature, to be used with a lamp. It is a sender, meaning it has a resistance which varies with temperature, to be used with a gauge. The heads are identical on each side of a HK327, and have a 1/2"-14 NPT threaded hole between the first and second spark plug hole. On correctly assembled HK 327 engines this hole will have a blanking plug installed on the drivers side (right hand) head, and a 1/2"-14 NPT to 1/8"-27 NPT reducing bush on the passenger (left) side head, which is between cylinders 1 and 3. The temperature sender is installed in the 1/8"-27NPT hole. Edited by user Thursday, 20 July 2023 11:12:50 AM(UTC)
