I was looking in the HG parts catalogue & found something odd.

They list the M15 is being available for the 308 V8. Has anybody here ever seen a factory built L31 (308) with an M15 ?

It was meant to be available on HT but was pulled before production. I have the amendment paperwork for the Engineering Tech Specs when it was removed. This is why it’s a closer ratio box than the traditional M15 as it was designed for more input torque, just like an M21 Aussie box vs V8 M20. All about the meshing of the gears between the clutch gear and the cluster gear.

Isn't it strange that in the HT catalogue it appears for the 253 V8, but not for the 308, because as you say it was pulled before production, bur re-appears for HG, fully 12 months later.

Maybe they were re-condsidering it, but pulled it again.

I think the HG parts catalogue was published but never amended and it was based on an early HT catalogue not the revised one. Remember that 308 was only available as auto and in Brougham at HT release. By the time the HT parts catalogues were amended for 308 manual HG would have already been well and truly being locked in.

Here is the Eng Tech Spec revision notice.

Here is where it was removed from the driveline combos. See the blank line against 308?

I can also confirm in all of the Pilot HT's (I have all of them listed) there are no 308 3spd manuals. These were built between February and April 1969. There are 253 Powerglides, and 253 4spd with 3.36 banjo rear axles (not sure how that happened as there were no V8 grey iron banjos and thus only 2.78 and 3.08 V8 banjos).
