Questions for Dr Terry, plus anyone that does brake repairs
Starting on a HQ (coupe) that I've had sitting around for 30+ years, mostly outside, but reasonably dry climate. Which brake items to rebuild, & what to buy new? What is ok to use from eBay, & repco etc, what to avoid & what bits better to talk brake shops?
Obviously buy new rear cylinders & brake lines & hoses, linings.
Its no matching engine number etc.so will use whatever callipers , usually told to use girlock alloy, but to stay with HQ booster, or whatever is available?

I recommend buying everything from the brake specialist in your nearest big city.
I have lost count of the number of times wheel cylinders, master cylinders, brake shoes, etc from auto parts stores have given me grief over the years so now if I need a brake component I get it from a specialist. Brake fluid is about the only exception.
The specialists may also know more about what you need than you do which can be really helpful.
Buying anywhere else just isn't worth the hassle IMO.
