Hi, im new to this site so go easy on me Angel
im after advice on an electronic dizzy, i have a 253 red from a kingswood and would like to up-grade to an electronic distributor.
the motore is stock and will be going in my chevy truck, as always, not looking to spend a fortune and the postage charge to the UK adds a lot to the total.
any advice would be much appreciated as information here is really scarce.

Just buy new dizzy and coil, they are easy to find. Off Ebay postage should be OK. You can re-use your cap and leads, just have to get the right plugs and gap them right.

I'll post up a photo later of the mod to make to the ignition switch. Easy conversion.

Here is a link.

https://www.ebay.com.au/...%3D%7Ctkp%3ABFBM8KG8wulk

There are others that sell these too. The link below has a Country/Region and you can select the UK so it will probably have postage options. They'd be able to sell you the right plugs for a blue V8 too which I think are BPR5FS-15 or BPR6FS-15 for a colder plug. You can use BPR5FS-11 as well, these are 1.1mm gap, just widen it a fraction (the 15 are 1.5mm).

I'll attach an image of the modified ignition switch too:

Bridge pins 11 and 12.

Wiring diagram shows you why. Gives full 12V to the coil always.

From early-holdens postage to Bath UK, will be around $75-$80 AUD depending on exact weight, including spark plugs etc.

Dr Terry
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

The only issue I found with my HJ was I couldn't put the distributor in exactly the same location in the engine (ie with the vacuum canister in the same location) as the ignition module hits the intake manifold. I had to rotate it about 90deg anti-clockwise for the ignition module to clear the intake manifold. See photo. It made the leads a bit messy and the vacuum advance pipe needed to be longer. You can see the module and where it is and it hits of you rotate it, the vacuum advance canister is at the back close to the firewall.
