heads have check out ok ,engine runs well but after running a while on restart it hydrolocks and water comes out of pcv valve,pistons and bores look ok

Valley cover leaking into Inlet tract due to corrosion or warped mainfold/head face is the only reason that I can think of (except a porous block but I've never heard of that problem in a Holden motor.

Use the black silicon when sealing up your intake manifold. Nothing beats it. If it has been faced before then sometimes you might need to use 2 sets of gaskets. A couple of the front bolts on the manifold actualy sit in the water gallery. There is a spec
